Optimized Workflow for Single Cell Copy Number Profiling Using High Resolution Oligo CGH Arrays
Here we describe GenetiSure Pre-Screen, a same day, cost-effective, analysis workflow that combines whole genome amplification (WGA) with copy number (CN) profiling using high-resolution oligo CGH microarrays.

Workshop report: Bioinformatics meets digital pathology
Pathologists are the guardians of large quantities of high-resolution
imaging material, that is barely noticed by bioinformatics today. Yet this (annotated) material can be of huge contributing value to any research project, as pathology preserves topological tissue features, and can help explain difficult phenomena such as tumor heterogeneity. The goal is then to bridge research methods and materials from the bioinformatics community with the (digital) pathology community.

Building and deploying digital pathology infrastructure for a heterogeneous user base
Too often, image analysis and data/image mining projects remain stuck in
microenvironments because they are limited by vendorspecific
solutions that neither scale nor interact with material from other departments or institutions. Successful rollout of digital histopathology therefore requires more than a whole slide scanner. At Brussels Free
University (VUB), we wanted to provide a core digital pathology infrastructure that can support a range of different use cases.

A Novel Cell-Free DNA Extraction System for Cancer Diagnostics
We developed a magnetic bead-based cfDNA extraction kit and integrated it into the automated qPCR- and NGS-based IVD workflows. In this study we are compering this magnetic beads-based cfDNA extraction system with a column-based method.

BAP1 Immunohistochemistry and p16 FISH in the Diagnosis of Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma
In order to differentiate peritoneal malignant mesothelioma (PMM) from primary peritoneal serous carcinoma (PPSC) and reactive mesothelial hyperplasia (RMH), we used immunohistochemistry to examine for BAP1, and FISH to examine for homozygous deletion of p16.

Blood Transcriptomic Diagnosis of Active TB with Five Genes
This study aimed to identify the minimal set of genes that can accurately diagnose active TB, both pulmonary and extrapulmonary, and evaluate their specificity.

A Novel Benchtop Time-of-Flight GC-MS System for High Performance Analysis of Human Urine
A workflow was developed and implemented for the effective comparison of urine. It involved the preparation of stable compounds through derivatization, data acquisition using a high performance benchtop TOFMS, comprehensive data processing (NonTarget Deconvolution™), and quick retrospective analysis of rich datasets using Target Analyte Finding.

Exosomes Promote Survival in Squamous Head and Neck Cancer Cells after Ionizing Radiation
Exosomes are important intercellular communicators in the acute radiation stress-response. These nanometer-sized extracellular vesicles confer protective signals to neighboring cells and therefore promote the tumorigenic and radioresistant phenotype of head and neck cancer cells.

Development of a Homogenous RSV Neutralization Assay on the Mirrorball Fluorescence Cytometer: A Simple, Safe and Robust Approach for High-throughput Screening
Here we present the development and implementation of a simple RSV-neutralization assay on TTP Labtech’s mirrorball fluorescence cytometer.

Automated Sample Preparation of Whole Blood for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Diagnostics by LC-MS using a Commercial Autosampler
In this poster the parameters necessary to automatically prepare whole blood samples for online LC-MS applications in the field of diagnostics and TDM have been investigated. A strategy and the most important parameters are shown for the optimization of a PAL RTC autosampler
for the preparation of whole blood samples.
